For my New Year’s resolution, I deleted a lot of apps that take away my time from focusing on the present. After a harsh competition, one of the apps that survived on my phone was the rental car app called “SoCar.” Why? Because it helps me do something valuable in my life when I need it, and I can take a control of this app rather than being controlled by it.

Unlike other social media that’s constantly being updated by hundreds of friends, I didn’t have to worry about checking this app constantly, and I can choose to use it when I want — I have leadership.
The reason that this app comes to my mind is because I have good memories about it. Think about Chocolate and Medicine (no more than 1 second). The reason you want chocolate more than medicine is because you have a memory of sweetness which makes you feel good. SoCar is easy-going. It has 4 simple steps in order to rent a car right away, which respect the user’s time and effort. This natural flow makes users excited as they enter their information as they get closer to achieving their goal.
It also has small touches that make users’ experience more delightful. When the steps are simple to follow, and they experience good design, they would trust this app by thinking “They care about us!”
During the study material at Designlab today, it mentioned that products need to be responsibly made. What if products provide chances for users to feel more responsible about their decisions when this world makes things too easy for people to get what they want.
